Pa. Realtors report realtor.com scam offering leads

Realtor.com doesn’t text or email agents to sell leads, but an apparent scammer makes it appear that they do. He’s contacting agents in the Northeast in a scam similar to an older one in which unrequested leads seemed to come from Zillow.

Remodeling for profit? Unlikely

Sellers who spend $5K on an upgrade and ask $10K more for their home will probably be disappointed. “Hardly anything will offer a net profit,” says Realtor Barry Grooms. But some “help sell the property faster and fetch a higher sales price.”

FHA will stop financing property with a PACE loan

HUD will no longer allow FHA financing on properties if a PACE energy-efficient improvement lien remains in place. It says a mortgage default could threaten its Mutual Mortgage Insurance Fund since PACE loans have priority lien status.

Under tax reform, 14.9% more Fla. sellers could owe capital gains taxes

If an owner today sells after two years, he doesn’t pay capital gains taxes. But under tax reform, the minimum stay increases to five years, which NAR says would force 14.9% of Fla. owners to wait up to two years if they want to sell their home.
