Remind buyers to unfreeze their credit

Following the Experian data breach, many people froze their credit score accounts to avoid identify theft. However, freezing can work against them in a home purchase if they hope to secure a mortgage for the property.

Fla.'s Hardest-Hit Fund program expires Wednesday

The state’s program to help owners facing foreclosures ends Jan. 31 with about $88M unspent – about 8% of its $1.1B share of federal funds. Once scheduled to end in 2020, Florida Housing says it’s now able to end ahead of schedule.

Florida report: 2017 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers

What does the typical Fla. buyer or seller look like? Only 1 in 5 (22%) of buyers are first-timers compared to 34% in U.S., and they’re typically 45 years old. Sellers average 60 years and make about $96.5K annually with retirement a primary goal.

New lawsuit claims Zillow violates antitrust laws

A N.J. company alleges that “Zestimates” are not only inaccurate, but that Zillow leverages that inaccuracy to favor preferred brokers – an antitrust violation – by allowing them to avoid showing Zestimates below listing prices.

Bitcoin fever grips U.S. real estate

Some people roll their eyes at Bitcoin, but it’s buying more Fla. homes for a pragmatic reason: No government controls it, and buyers can transfer unlimited funds to the U.S. even when their home country caps the amount allowed to move overseas.
